Founded in 1971, Boys & Girls Country of Houston, located in Hockley, Texas, is dedicated to transforming the lives of children from families in crisis by providing a secure, stable, and loving Christian home environment.

The residential program at Boys & Girls Country provides homes for children ages 5 to 18. Children live on campus in cottages with trained houseparents and attend local public schools. Each cottage operates as an independent family unit, preparing meals together, doing chores, and even attending vacations together.

A Commitment to Quality Care

The family-centered cottages at Boys & Girls Country provide a safe, structured family environment that helps prevent and resolve social and emotional issues using long-term goals. This provides children with the opportunity to build healthy relationships through stability and communication.

Boys and Girls Country also works with legal guardians and caregivers to offer trauma-informed care education and training, aiming for family reunification and generational healing.

Ensuring the mental and physical safety of the children in our care is our top priority, and residential decisions are made based on each child’s individual needs. This program is both licensed by the State of Texas and accredited through the Council of Accreditation (COA). T care model follows Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) which is designed to meet the unique needs of children who have experienced early-childhood trauma.

Hiring: Houseparents

Houseparents at Boys & Girls Country are the backbone of the residential program, building vital relationships with the children and raising them as their own. They live on-campus in cottages that function as individual family units, each accommodating up to eight children, and work a 14-day on, 7-day off rotation, providing full-time attention and care.

Responsibilities include creating a family-like atmosphere, assisting with daily routines, meal preparation, organizing activities, and offering emotional support.

In addition to having a heart for children and a calling to work in a Christ-centered community, Houseparents must pass stringent background testing and complete both pre-service and ongoing training in the pursuit of excellence for the children in their care.

Hiring: Case Aid/Mentor

BGC knows that becoming an adult does not happen overnight. Since 1997, our College & Career program provides young adults the opportunity to obtain a college degree, a technical certificate, enter the military or begin their career. During their time in our program they will receive mentorship, financial support and will continue to have a place to call home.

Case Aide/Mentors provide support and guidance, offering ongoing mentoring and supervision as these young individuals navigate campus life, community involvement, spiritual exploration, academic pursuits, vocational training, further education, initial job placements, and various avenues of preparing for their forthcoming endeavors.
