Houseparenting at Sunshine Acres Children's Home in Mesa, AZ

Celebrating its 70th year in 2024, Sunshine Acres Children’s Home was founded by Reverend James Dingman and his wife, Vera, out of a lifelong desire to serve children in need and an unwavering faith that God would provide all they need. After years spent in faithful pursuit of their dream, the Dingmans’ prayers were answered when Sunshine Acres opened its doors in 1954, the beginning of what would become known as the “Miracle in the Desert.”

The mission of Sunshine Acres is to provide a loving, wholesome, Christian home for children who are separated from their parents and helps them establish long-term relationships with stable parental figures, preparing them for success in adult life.

Children come to Sunshine Acres for a variety of reasons. Some have parents in prison while others have a parent who is too ill to care for the child. The family could be homeless or the child has been living with grandparents who find it difficult to care for their grandchildren. At Sunshine Acres, children receive the physical and emotional tools and support they need to thrive, including food, clothing, housing, medical care, education, the opportunity to go on vacations and participate in sports and other activities, and access to a variety of enrichment activities aimed to equip them for success in adult life.

Sunshine Acres is currently hiring hard-working, fun-loving, trainable, and relational married couples to serve as house parents at their Mesa, Arizona campus.
